I am writing this letter to introduce myself in a more personal way than can be done within the context of a resume. My family and I are moving to Canada in 2017, so I am looking for an opportunity to help a local company. We have family in BC, but are open to moving to any location across Canada.
I am a technology architect and manager with around 18 years’ experience. I come from a software development background using Microsoft and Java technologies, and have more recently become a convert to Python and associated open source stacks.
For the last 10 years I have been working in enterprise, solutions, and technical architecture. I am strong at capability modeling, enterprise data architecture, target operating model definition, technology strategy, road-mapping, etc. Equally I am good at end to end solutions architecture, including technology selection, high level design, application architecture, integration architecture, infrastructure architecture, and of course security.
I am a good people manager, and have a great deal of experience leading technical teams in complex matrix environments. I enjoy helping people develop to their full potential, and I love mentoring people to help them understand what they are seeking from their career and how they can take steps to achieve that.
I have a passion for data and analytics, and nothing makes me happier (professionally anyway) than delivering business value through an effective use of data.
I am looking for a company that can use my skills and experience to full effect. I am open-minded about what that role might look like, but it is likely to be a senior technology-focused position. I am very open to having informal, obligation-free, conversations with potential employers, recruiters, or anyone who may be able to use my skills.
My management style is informal and inclusive, and I believe that giving people outcomes to achieve rather than tasks to complete allows people to apply their creativity. It would be great if the company I move to shared these values, or aspired to them.
